Designed for a Control Workstation Setup

This transport case is designed as a workstation road case for a Behringer X32 and ETC ColorSource 20 style setup. It suits live event, concert touring and stage production environments where control equipment, rack gear and accessories need to travel together in one organized case.

Although this case is built around the Behringer X32 and ETC ColorSource 20 equipment combination, similar audio mixers, digital mixers or control consoles may suit a related layout after adjustment. Console width, control surface depth, connector positions, rack equipment and drawer requirements can all affect the final design. Control gear has a way of looking easy to organize until the cables, adapters and “very important little bits” arrive.

Built and Finished for Touring Use

The exterior panels are made from 12mm WBP birch veneer laminated plywood. Weather and Boil Proof plywood is made from thin layers of premium hardwood bonded with strong adhesive, giving the panels good resistance to moisture, weather changes and regular transport conditions. Armor’s WBP plywood uses birch veneers bonded with phenolic resin glue, helping the finished case handle movement between trucks, venues, warehouses and production areas.

The case is fitted with 2mm heavy duty corner and edge extrusions together with genuine Penn Elcom hardware. These parts help protect the high-contact areas that usually take the most wear during loading, transport and storage. All panels and hardware positions are precision cut using CNC machinery to maintain accurate sizing, clean alignment and consistent fit.

After machining, the case is assembled by trained and experienced workers who understand how production cases are handled in real event environments. The finished case then goes through a standard QC process covering lid fit, drawer operation, rack layout, hardware function, panel alignment and overall build quality. The aim is to deliver a workstation case that arrives ready for regular production use, not one that needs a workshop session before its first job.

Tabletop Lid, 16U Rack and Drawer Storage

The key feature of this workstation road case is the front tabletop lid. Once opened, the lid provides a practical operating surface for live production work, making the case useful not only for transport but also for setup and operation. This is especially helpful when crews need a clean workspace without building a control station from whatever happens to be nearby.

The case also includes a 16U rack section for secure equipment mounting, along with three drawers and three shelves for organizing tools, cables and gear. Keeping rack gear integrated with the control setup helps reduce separate cases and keeps the system more organized during transport and deployment. It is a much better arrangement than trying to remember which rack case went with which console at the end of a long night.

A back slam lid allows in-case operation, helping speed up setup while maintaining protection. The truck-packable and stackable design ensures efficient transport without sacrificing internal space.
