This transport case is designed to protect and operate one Yamaha DM7 Compact digital mixer used in concert touring, live events and studio production. It is more than a simple mixer road case, as the layout works as a workstation with mixer mounting, rack space and drawer storage built into one transport unit. .

The design is built around the Yamaha DM7 Compact, but similar audio mixers, digital mixers or compact control consoles may suit a related layout after slight adjustment. Console size, connector position, ventilation needs, rack equipment depth and storage requirements can all affect the final design. Mixers rarely travel alone; they usually bring cables, rack gear and several small items that mysteriously become important five minutes before show time.

Built and Finished for Touring Use

The exterior panels are made from 12mm WBP birch veneer laminated plywood. Weather and Boil Proof plywood is made from thin layers of premium hardwood bonded with strong adhesive, giving the panels good resistance to moisture, weather changes and regular transport conditions. Armor’s WBP plywood uses birch veneers bonded with phenolic resin glue, helping the finished case handle movement between trucks, venues, studios and storage areas.

Inside the case, EVA 38B foam blocks help support and protect the Yamaha DM7 Compact during transport. The case is fitted with Penn Elcom hardware, 12 large latches, 4 recessed handles, 35mm extrusions and ball corners. These hardware choices support regular live production handling while protecting the areas that usually take the most contact.

All panels, drawer parts, rack openings and hardware positions are precision cut using CNC machinery to maintain accurate sizing and consistent alignment. After machining, the case is assembled by trained and experienced workers who understand how mixer workstation cases are used in real production environments. The finished case then goes through a standard QC process covering lid fit, latch operation, drawer movement, rack alignment, handle placement and overall build quality.

Removable Lids, 19RU Space and Drawer Storage

The key feature of this Yamaha DM7 Compact workstation case is the front and top removable lid design. The removable lids provide better access during setup and operation, making it easier to use the mixer as part of a working control position rather than only as packed equipment inside a box.

The case includes mounting for the Yamaha DM7 Compact and 19RU space for related rack equipment. There are 3U rack strips at the front and back, giving flexibility for mounting and accessing gear depending on the setup. This helps keep the mixer and supporting equipment together, which is much better than hunting for the correct rack case during load-in.

Storage is also built into the case with three 3U sized plywood drawers and one 5U sized plywood drawer. These drawers are useful for cables, adapters, tools, documents and smaller accessories that need to travel with the mixer. Keeping everything in one workstation helps reduce loose gear and makes pack-down more organized.
